Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 05:49:10 --- Auto car wash will void warranty? Sounds like the vehicle is not made to withstand basic wear and tear. It is not consumer ready. Everyone get together and file a class action law suit. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 05:57:56 @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg A friend who may need to replace a car soon was just chatting to me why he'd never buy a Tesla. *copied and pasted from our chat* the reason is theya re designed like cellphones |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 06:25:17 That's a great perspective. Musky made a drivable iPhone entangled in its own universe. Maybe rose gold will be the next upgrade, cost twice as much, and still lack water resistance. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 08:03:29 @chu @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg ya, tesla is a tech company trying to rediscover car design without 150 years of iterative knowhow … so, as you say, they’re basically ipads on wheels. But uglier |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 15:39:08 @Kierkegaanks @chu @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg No, he actively eschews the century and a half of know-how. On the one hand it’s why his orbital fornication company penetrates space so cheaply. On the other it’s why he didn’t have active cooling on a launch pad subjected to extended blasts of rocket flames. |

Föderation EN Mo 22.04.2024 15:36:03 @Kierkegaanks @Aphrodite @chu @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg Well, it is basically a car for driving to mall and back, since it cannot get wet, it cannot go off-road, it cannot be washed, or left dirty, or be near salt water, or fall into potholes, or be looked at with crooked eyes. I was just this weekend reading an article about Elmo and the "masterful gambit, sir" crowd. And just this weekend a certain country in South America had a public gathering to praise Elmo because of his comments criticizing a judge there, comments which were interpreted as pro-their-ex-far-right-president. (As it is usual with that country, they are always late to the party, dressed in the wrong outfit, and telling the wrong jokes.) |
Föderation EN Mo 22.04.2024 18:49:34 @locksmithprime @Kierkegaanks @chu @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg There’s a lewd and crude way of describing those sycophantic choads, but I’ll take the high ground and say that Daddy Senpai Muskrat won’t notice them no matter how much they screech their desire to… dammit I can’t find a classy way to say it |

Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 10:54:56 @chu @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg I think the bus your friend is referring to is CAN bus. It's used in ALL modern cars, ICE, hybrid or EVs. Basically, if your car has automatic door locks, it most probably uses CAN bus. It's been a standard in the industry for decades now. And no, a fail in a CAN bus node doesn't bring the whole system down. CAN bus is fault-tolerant, and you should really do an awful implementation to allow a non-critical node to bring the system down. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 15:25:05 @chu @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg Plenty of cars run a data bus for doing things. Windscreen washer control on my car are all digital. Means that the controller can sequence pumping water before wiping, and stop wiping motion if bonnet is up. I bet most modern cars with CAN bus do this for wipers, indicators etc. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 17:13:48 @chu @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg Problem is that the other car manufacturers are following Tesla's lead with screens and electronics. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 12:17:02 @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg @chu It's not a consumer product. It's when a deranged billionaire gets no pushback in his company about his "ideas" because he will fire everyone that dares to state such things. Same with the b.s. statement that Tesla will make its future money with a focus on robotaxis. It will very clearly not. But no-one in the company will dare to say that to his face. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 15:23:14 @knud @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg @chu The charade will go on for a year or two, then Musk will claim government regulation and/or insurance of driverless vehicles makes it impossible to bring to market, and it will disappear into the same hole as the Boring Company/hyper loop. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 17:37:09 @RealGene @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg @chu But then Tesla will have zero product perspective. Not looking good. |

Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 17:02:48 @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg @chu it's going to take about 4 years then Tesla will be forced to offer a 100% recall. This is a defective product that's not fit for purpose. Forced refunds are given for this bullshit all the time. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 17:05:40 @WagesOf @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg can't get your money if the company doesn't exist anymore. Overall sales are down, the other cars are still exploding regularly... the only thing still going up is his ego. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 17:07:25 @chu @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg isn't he set to get $56b in bonuses this year? That company is so fucked up. |
Föderation EN Fr 19.04.2024 17:17:05 @WagesOf @Betterifyouneil @BobLefridge @greg 🤷 I'm not privileged enough to understand executive compensation math. It seems to defy all standard rules of mathematics we learn in engineering school. I've studied calculus, fluid dynamics, even some quantum mechanics but none of this applies to executive compensation math. The ratios don't make sense and clearly my education precludes me from understanding this kind of complex math. |
