@Gargron I'm curious as well. I don't get Pixelfed other than I understand you can make albums of more than four photographs. Personally, on social media, I have found that folk's attention span to only be sufficient for one photo at a time. My experience from when I was on FB and IG was almost no one would click through an album of photos. But then maybe most folks don't find my work that compelling? Whatever, I've been perfectly happy using Mastodon. (Hat tip Eugen!)

@Gargron For browsing, how about a photo and video browsing mode only option...
I've been asking for that since 2022 as a native feature in the webUI as well as app. Regular timeline, photo timeline and a video timeline option

I'm not sure in v4.4 with the changes to search if I can save a search in the URL to get that, but that still bundles media together, unless you changed that.

@Gargron @geoff_eg I don’t miss much actually and I rarely log into pixelfed these days. I recommended it based on more photo specific content/users and larger rendering of the photos on the website. Just a little more noise in terms of non-photography content on more general purpose servers for people looking for pure photography content.

That said the portfolio page is something I would like here. And I like the way the website is organized more than mastodon. Because it has less features I assume it has less clutter.

I always assumed it was a fork off the same project. Thanks for correcting me.

@Gargron @ram @geoff_eg I use Mastodon most as a photographer. But I also have 2 Pixelfed accounts - mainly to show a quick overview of the stuff I do. Since I also speak about other things in life here, a portfolio feature would be great. Else, it's all about UI & UX for me. Give me nice, modern UI. Maybe move the images above the text (as a card layout). And a real good describe-this-image-for-blind-people feature (AI, I know) so I can actually upload stuff on the run.
