· Föderation EN Fr 11.04.2025 23:20:41 @Gargron I'm curious as well. I don't get Pixelfed other than I understand you can make albums of more than four photographs. Personally, on social media, I have found that folk's attention span to only be sufficient for one photo at a time. My experience from when I was on FB and IG was almost no one would click through an album of photos. But then maybe most folks don't find my work that compelling? Whatever, I've been perfectly happy using Mastodon. (Hat tip Eugen!) |
Föderation EN Fr 11.04.2025 23:24:03 @elaterite @ram @geoff_eg I feel the same. If I think my photo is good, I make a standalone post for it. Only combining multiple if they are thematically inseparable. The more separate posts you can make over time, the more visibility you get, just through the principles of how this kind of social media works. |

Föderation EN Fr 11.04.2025 23:25:37 @elaterite @Gargron @ram Agreed. I made a pixelfed when I first started on the fediverse and decided it wasn't for me. Too much like IG which I was wanting to leave. I quite enjoy these text based conversations that don't happen on a photo forward platform. If I was to request any specific changes for photos on Mastodon it would likely be in the form of toggling a "show only image/text based post" for those times I want to view images/text only... and shareable lists. |
Föderation EN Fr 11.04.2025 23:30:04 @geoff_eg @elaterite @ram Shareable lists/starter packs are in the works, kind of stalled due to some writer's block on my part, but I'm very aware how much in demand that idea is. I'll think about what we can offer regarding image-only feeds. |
Föderation EN Fr 11.04.2025 23:32:42 Like @paul noted a toggle switch or photo/video/browsing mode would be fantastic. You might also check https://fedidevs.com/s/Mzc3/ work for the shareable lists. This is once I've made as a workaround in the meantime. |
