Föderation EN Sa 10.02.2024 01:21:19 For better or worse, I’m on a Mastodon server by myself. And I have a couple Masto tech 1. Is it normal to never see how many favs someone’s post has? It’s always zero. (I miss that, it’s nice to see what resonates with people.) Sorry to use you for tech support |
Föderation EN Sa 10.02.2024 01:34:37 @cabel The solution is essentially to be on a large server, your server isn’t pulling in anything from servers where you don’t follow anyone. That’s by design—and it’s a terrible design. I suspect the people who made the underlying protocol aren’t very social. |
Föderation EN Sa 10.02.2024 09:18:23 @thomasfuchs This is more of a performance problem than a choice. Distributing those to every server would increase the server-to-server trafic by a lot. |
Föderation EN Sa 10.02.2024 08:06:41 @cabel yes that’s normal but it’s indeed a bad experience that’s why we fixed it in mammoth - which will show you engagement metrics in your timeline. ;) Medien: 1 |

Föderation EN Sa 10.02.2024 09:17:09 @cabel This article explains is very clearly, this all stems down from ActivityPub being a federated protocol, and you server only has a partial view of things: https://seb.jambor.dev/posts/understanding-activitypub-part-3-the-state-of-mastodon/ |
