Föderation EN Fr 18.04.2025 09:35:26 I've had concerns for a while about the direction the #OSI has been going with AI for a while. The publishing of the #OSAID weakens the #OpenSourceDefinition. I'm not a member but the definition does require community participation in terms of the licences we choose and how we advocate for Open Source. The recent board elections showed a disturbing pattern of obfuscation. We need to be able to trust Organisations that are meant to safeguard what Open source is. |
Föderation EN Fr 18.04.2025 09:42:34 It's surprising that the #OSI decided to obfuscate the election results and handwaved it as "oh it's STV you dont understand it". Some of us participate in votes that have STV. Organisation's like Nominet use a third party Civitas and they publish the votes. The election is done, but the OSI has damaged our trust. A way to restore that trust for the community would be to publish the voting tallies in full. There's a petition for the community to sign.

Föderation EN Fr 18.04.2025 15:28:02 @onepict "A way to restore that trust": honestly, if it needs so much pressure to perform such a perfectly natural task, to me it seems that would not be "a way", but the natural first step on that way. The damage done is already much too big to be waved away with an "OK OK, if you say…". How much effort would it take the next time? How long until the lost trust is restored, without any doubt left? How shall we know what else might have escaped us, if there's no transparency? |
Föderation EN Fr 18.04.2025 16:26:51 @IzzyOnDroid I admit I don't see how. But there are candidates who ran on a reform platform. They wanted to fix the issues, repair the bridges. There are people who want to help the OSI to restore the trust. If that's the case, they have a place to state that. |
