@davew @aral Perhaps; there are certainly issues with ActivityPub. But correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that the BlueSky approach to federation keeps BlueSky as the central authority. While that can simplify some issues, given previous experience with billionaire owners of social media platforms it isn't comforting.

@jencmars Unless I'm missing something, this seems like malpractice on the part of the lawyers who were arguing against the decision. Why didn't they do the basic research back when this case was before the lower courts, which is where the facts are supposed to be found? Apparently no one ever tried to contact the man whose name was used, even though all of his contact info was in court filings.

@arstechnica This is Fidelity's new estimate of what its stake is worth, scaled to the size of the company. I'd say it is an overestimate. But they can downgrade the value again every time Musk inflicts more damage.

@dcjohnson Also, hardly anyone paid that top rate on the majority of their income, because corporate execs didn't get astronomical compensation back then.

@AlisonW @lauren Many of his businesses lost money, so it is possible. I also noticed that in many years he has zero ordinary taxable income but a big alternative minimum tax. AMT has a separate set of rules with fewer things that can be deducted, this kicks in for wealthy taxpayers.
