I don't think it's a good feature of Mastodon polls that you can't see the results unless you vote.

Not every poll can be meaningfully answered by everyone who'd be interested in the result. For most of the polls I create I have to waste an option on a "see results" choice. For polls that don't include that option, I bet a lot of folks just vote randomly so they can see the current state.
