I don't subscribe to theories like "(almost) every person has a Doppelgänger," but it was the middle 1970s when I was in a public library and I ran into someone who looked exactly like a 5 years younger me.

The boy was only slightly irritated, but I was somewhat shocked.

@mina Doppelgänger in Sachen erheblich Ähnlichsehen? Die gibt's ja offensichtlich. Vorgestern im Restaurant sahen wir zwei Männer, die offensichtlich Zwillinge waren. Sie wirkten unfassbar ähnlich, auch Mimik, Gestik, Stimme. Das wurde noch unterstrichen durch dieselbe Frisur und fast gleiche Kleidung. In der Schule hatte ich echt Probleme, ein Zwillingsschwesterpärchen aus der Nachbarklasse auseinanderzuhalten. Aber auch Nichtzwillinge habe ich schon verwechselt.

@mina i loved reading the novel. tana french has a special way of creating characters, so that they become alive in my head. not so sure i believe in doppelgänger though... except identical twins.
