Podcasters rejoice: 1.3 is out!

Video walk-through of the highlights: simonrepp.com/video/faircamp/1

New to faircamp? Visit simonrepp.com/faircamp/

What started with a music-minded design approach now opens up to the world of narrative, episodic and long-form content, allowing you to publish your podcast(s) using fast, maintenance free static site technology. \o/

(Almost) everything new in a nutshell:
Podcast RSS & Atom feeds, Support for linking to timecodes/tracks, Playback speed controls, new volume slider, new raster-based procedural covers, Integration of missing images in track list and browse/search, new --preview-ip flag, many apple-specific fixes, Portuguese (european) translations, and much more – see the changelog: codeberg.org/simonrepp/faircam

This big new development was made possible through an NGI0 grant by @nlnet, funded by the european commission's @EC_NGI initiative – thank you so much!

Also many thanks to all helping hands, this time especially @sknob, @strk, lnicola, @syndicate, @meljoann, @oliver, @controlfreak, @keefmarshall, invadeuse, @greenman, @apfel, N4ta, @didier, @torstentorsten, @elx, @Vac, Patricio Maripani and Patrik Wallström - if you were also directly involved in the adventure and I somehow missed you (so much going on oof! •ᴗ•), apologies and please feel included! <3

I just contemplated for a minute how awesome it is that @Codeberg exists. I was reformatting the link to codeberg on my (these days empty-ish) github profile and it felt like the most normal thing that most of my repositories now live on an independent, community-led platform ... but it's totally not!

Some people set out to make it happen and put in so much energy and personal time and resources, and they made it happen! And still every day there's a few incredibly dedicated core volunteers behind the scenes, keeping things running for us all, and hundreds of members providing funds and oversight, and devs building forgejo and so on ... what a marvel of the free software movement. Also love the political energy behind it and that people are mostly very clear on the mission: Tech is political. Code is political. And we better make damn sure we make it good politics!! (•̀ᴗ•́)و

I tagged 0.13.0 for release today, here's what's new:

ALAC supported as input format / New theme option round_corners (simonrepp.com/faircamp/manual/) / RSS feed image is auto-generated, item title includes artists, item description includes release text / Description text on release pages now shows above the fold (previously easily missed) / Waveform width determination at transitional viewport widths corrected and polished / Unnecessary transcoding of intermediate track assets for already existing archive fixed / ... and a few other fixes in code and docs

Debian packages are already updated, other platforms should follow in the next days (I'll post short notes then).

This time around a huge round of applause to all the people (and there are many!) who develop and maintain the libraries that faircamp relies on under the hood, for instance @polyfloyd, whose excellent id3 crate enables faircamp to read mp3 metadata. Thank you! (*_ _)人
