That's rather problematic.

@dymaxion The only possible decarbonization scenario in a world of fascism, invasion, and civil war will be by economic collapse. Large scale conventional war can actually block that collapse unless one side or the other starts losing so badly their industries get bombed out.

Any social group that is fighting for their own survival will NOT have time to worry about ANYTHING else. Even if climate change is an existential later threat (even just next hurricane season), the enemies shooting at you today are a NOW existential threat. If you are shot dead today, you do not care about the hurricane that levels your house tomorrow.

We may be heading into a world of absolute dictatorships, total war, huge genocides, and finally absolute and total ecological collapse. When THAT happens, Gaia goes to war, using weapons that make any human weapon look like a joke.

The climate can just snap it's fingers and there is no harvest next year, anywhere.

The rich starve a month or two after the poor, but they do starve in the end. Everyone who is NOT human but is "made of meat" gets hunted to extinction about two weeks after the grocery stores close, then it REALLY hits the fan.

Afterwards, life rebuilds, as any climate will favor some life forms and disfavor others. With humans and other top predators gone, smaller life forms (possibly new ones like it was after the dinosaurs) have a field day, repopulating much of the world in a few milennia. Possibly the entire cycle repeats itself, as another species with "just enough brains to tan it's own hide" takes over for another rampage. There will be plenty of fossil fuels left for them with the CO2 from this round long turned into carbonate rocks. Geologic carbon cycle: main source is volcanoes, main sink the weathering of rock to carbonate.
