@geoff_eg@mastodon.social Hello and welcome to

Since you're trying something new, the learning won't stop for a while.
With Mastodon, you have only chosen one access software to the Fediverse network. You will soon realize that there is much more here. I, for example, am writing to you with another software called Firefish, which looks similar but can do more. Then there's Pixelfed, which works in a similar way to Instagram, except that you can follow the accounts there with your account on Mastodon. You can also interact with all accounts in the Fediverse, you can reply to and like someone's pictures on Pixelfed, follow and interact with someone on Peertube (video service) and so on.

Have fun and great experiences getting to know the

@crossgolf_rebel Hey thanks! Appreciate the info and names of the other "doorways". I've had some experience with the HIVE network using Peakd and Ecency. Based on what I've seen so far with servers here it seems to be of similar nature... a good thing IMO. I'll take a peak at Pixelfed, Firefish, and Peertube too.

Any other "doors" you'd recommend, or ways to find these points of access?

@geoff_eg@mastodon.social 🤣 oh yes, lots of doors

For microblogging alone, there are more than a handful of services, including our two.
Then there are macro blogging services like Hubzilla and Friendica

A kind of flea market exchange market is currently developing, then as I said, everything that exists outside of closed services is similar here and they are also connected by the same protocol

As an example, I recorded and posted a short video here by the river earlier on Peertube
