@carla @nielsvanberkel Just letting you know I have applied, I’m so good at the job on privacy if I didn’t mention it on here it would look like I haven’t applied at all. I’m just that good on my privacy! 😉

@carla
Mandatory mention for people from the less fortunate abroad:

A Danish PhD position is REAL JOB under ACADEMIC UNION wages and conditions. You WILL be able to live from this salary (especially since it's not in Copenhagen). You will have 5+ weeks of paid holiday, paid sick days, paid [p|m]aternity leave. And public health care, of course, being a resident of Denmark. No stress about going bankrupt from a broken leg.

Also, the subject seems kinda interesting.

@notsoloud @nielsvanberkel thanks for pointing this out! This is all very true, and work/life balance in Denmark is so nice that many PhD students even have babies during their PhDs 😅 However, this position is in the Copenhagen campus of Aalborg University :) en.aau.dk/copenhagen

Oh, had forgotten your colonies 😄

In that case, the rental market will be tough but should be doable, especially for those willing to accept inconvenient lodgings at the beginning.

@carla @nielsvanberkel you should check out the messenger Matrix from a privacy and data protection researcher and blogger from Germany: messenger-matrix.de/messenger-… - there's a lot of research already been done.

@carla unfortunate that this is limited to PhD students. There is some amazing talent out there.

@crft I know 😭 if I manage to get more funding on this topic in the future, I hope to open positions for engineers.

@carla @nielsvanberkel semi-related question. I'm not sure how to properly ask the question, so I hope I can make sense.

Are there any opportunities for studying abroad? Let's say I'm looking for a way to move to Denmark and pursue education there as a refugee.

I have no idea how to navigate this at the moment nor where to start, so I hope my probing isn't bothersome. Thank you.
