Does anyone have a hint about what good open-source email and calendar apps are out there (if any) for the Apple iOS ecosystem?

I would like to try to move a bit away from Apple and

Also, I am looking into mailbox.org as a reliable mail & calendar service (paid) ...

@andreas_heitmann you can try the mail & calendar free version and see if that fits your needs. They have an ios app.
