Föderation EN Sa 24.08.2024 09:55:35 @digitalpardoe @ivory I feel like the same thing could have been achieved by keeping the old behaviour and defaulting to “don’t pin the new tab when changing” But I liked being able to adjust it on the fly based on what I was doing, and now that’s way too slow and tedious to be practical |
Föderation EN Sa 24.08.2024 10:25:25 @BenRiceM @ivory It could have been but my feeling is that tap & hold still made the interaction take too long to move efficiently between views when I was looking to do a quick bit of triage. It was especially evident if I wanted quickly flick between a few of the Tapbots-selected “hidden" options (and enabling customisation for all the tabs just looked ugly). |
Föderation EN Sa 24.08.2024 10:31:16 @digitalpardoe @ivory I liked having all five be adjustable as it looked more consistent ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In general, I just feel like I’ve gone from having 5 super-powerful multi-function buttons, to four single-purpose buttons and an overloaded menu, and it feels like a colossal regression. And I’m frustrated that many people seem to like the new approach, because it means I’m probably going to be on the losing side of this. |
Föderation EN Mo 26.08.2024 16:01:46 @BenRiceM @digitalpardoe We design for ourselves with the knowledge of feedback from our users over the years. We get that we won't ever make everyone happy. Unfortunately that's impossible. This design has been mulled over since before Ivory was an app. We think it's the right way forward as we prefer it and it solves some of the biggest problems our users have had for many, many years. But that's not to say there isn't room for improvement. Your feedback can help make this system better. |
Föderation EN Mo 26.08.2024 16:07:50 @ivory @digitalpardoe Don’t worry, I completely understand the reasoning and I’m not angrily rushing to cancel my subscription and leave negative reviews. I could also see a way for both approaches to coexist, but I imagine you don’t want to deal with the extra complexity |
Föderation EN Mo 26.08.2024 16:13:51 @BenRiceM @digitalpardoe It's totally possible we bring back elements that made the old design great, but we are starting fresh and want to keep things simple for the first release and get feedback. Everything is always a work in progress. 🙂 |
