Is #Bluesky now part of the Fediverse?

Sorry for being pedantic here, but it is important that words have meanings. Lately, some are saying that 'Fediverse' just means any distributed social media, not specifically to ActivityPub connected applications, and because #Bluesky is a distributed social media network it is now part of the Fediverse. Do you agree?

Bluesky To Sell Your Content To AI Data Miners

So it begins. Hidden in Jay Graber's recent charm offensive is this innocuously framed initiative: Bluesky is weighing a proposal that gives users consent over how their data is used for AI (https://techcrunch.com/2025/03/10/bluesky-is-weighing-a-proposal-that-gives-users-consent-over-how-their-data-is-used-for-ai/)

Not so fast.

1) Shows they are planning on doing content deals with AI companies.
2) Seems like it is Opt-out vs. Opt-in (see below).
3) It is just a voluntary robots.txt file

Just so proud of Mastodon and the Fediverse tonight.

Everything else is getting enshittified. Mozilla changes their TOS to sell your data. Bluesky censors political content (then backs off after outcry) and partners with weird blockchain and AI stuff. Everyday it is some new rubbish.

And we just keep chugging along. Nowhere do you get a better survey of what's going on or a better forum to engage with lively intelligent folks about it. No algorithmic nonsense. Just people. You're all great.

You know all those warnings that corporate #Bluesky is vulnerable to political censorship...

And so it begins.
